When choosing a smartphone, many pay attention to the internal component and appearance of the device. Unfortunately, most people forget about such an important parameter as the security of the gadget. Here are a few modern models that have good shockproof characteristics.
The flagship three years ago showed pretty good endurance results. Surprisingly, the smartphone from Apple withstood not only a fall from a 3-meter height onto a wooden surface, but also successfully landed on concrete from a 105-cm plank.
In the first case, iPhone X had minor scratches and two dents. However, the factory glass of the screen was not damaged. As you might guess, the purposeful impact of the display on a concrete platform led to the formation of chips and cracks.
By the way, short-term immersion in water caused several arbitrary reboots of the device, but after a short drying with a household hairdryer, the smartphone continued to work smoothly.
iPhone 11 Pro Max
The requirements for the new flagship from the company from Cupertino are much higher – a smartphone is more expensive, and the declared endurance is amazing. The device proudly endured two consecutive falls from a height of 2 meters onto a granite slab. During the third test, the protective glass on the back of the 11 Pro Max literally shattered.
In terms of moisture protection, the gadget is fully consistent with the advertising campaign Apple – neither splashes nor a directed stream of water affect the smartphone's performance.
HUAWEI P20 PRO
The top solution from a well-known Asian company pleased with its reliability, but did not survive the meeting with a concrete surface. The impact on a wooden platform from a height of three meters practically did no harm to either internal details or appearance.
The quality of the fifth generation Gorilla Glass protective glass deserves special attention. Thanks to the latter, the display of the device could not be broken.
Short immersion in water led to the device freezing for half an hour. However, after that, the gadget's performance was completely restored.
The direct competitor Huawei also performed well even in harsh conditions. After falling onto a wooden board from a height of 3.2 meters, the smartphone was unharmed, but in the case of ceramic tiles, the sensor stopped working. Surprisingly, the protective glass 'saved' the display, but it became impossible to control the device.
It is noteworthy that after meeting with water, the smartphone completely ceased to function. After drying, Mi9 worked for about 15 minutes, and then rebooted unauthorizedly several times and did not turn on again.
The smartphone from a famous Korean brand turned out to be quite hardy – the gadget proudly met a fall on concrete and immersion in water. The device continued to function, but the display was visibly damaged. In particular, a so-called cobweb of fine cracks has formed along the edges of the protective glass. In addition, dents and chips appeared at the corners.
It is noteworthy that after exposure to water, the smartphone remained operational, but the speaker began to work noticeably quieter. Even prolonged drying did not save the situation.
LG X Venture
The model is the only smartphone positioned for heavy-duty use. Remarkably, the stated endurance classes were not a marketing ploy LG.
The X Venture passed all tests successfully – even a fall on concrete from a height of 2 meters did not cause serious damage, traces of which are only present in the area of the physical control keys embedded in the metal frame. When immersed in water, the smartphone also showed good performance.
Samsung Galaxy S9
The flagship from the South Korean manufacturer is in the middle of the list of competitors. The fall onto the wooden platform did not cause any damage, but the meeting between the display and the concrete was fatal. The protective glass of the screen is covered with numerous cracks and chips. At the same time, the sensor completely stopped responding to pressing.
Surprisingly, in the water, the smartphone showed its best side. After a short dive, the S9 didn't even shut down. Moreover, over time, the device retained its functionality in normal mode without obvious signs of damage.
Samsung Galaxy Note10 +
In terms of endurance, the phablet completely repeats its counterpart in the face of the S9 model. The only weak point of the gadget was the rear protective glass.
The same statement applies to moisture resistance. The device will not survive deliberate immersion in water, but an accidentally spilled liquid is completely.
Moto z2 force
The gadget from Motorola showed the best durability result among other representatives of this collection. Surprisingly, even after falling from a height of 1.7 meters onto a concrete floor, the screen and sensor of the smartphone continued to function. Obviously, the gadget owes this to the proprietary ShatterShield tempered glass and the durable Z2 Force aluminum frame.
It is noteworthy that the smartphone also coped better with the water element. Almost immediately after the dive, the Z2 switched off, but after drying it continued to work stably. The manufacturer has not declared the model's water resistance, so it is possible that the second meeting with water may be the last for the device.
Pixel 2 XL
The smartphone from Google demonstrates good results, but the protective glass of the screen proved to be extremely weak. After the first frontal fall on a concrete slab, it literally crumbled. However, the sensor and cameras remained in working order.
In terms of moisture protection, the second generation Pixel shows itself on an equal footing with other devices from the collection. With short immersion and good drying, the chances of maintaining functionality are extremely high.
