Ten popular VPN services may be blocked by Roskomnazdor if they do not start filtering content prohibited in Russia. Interfax reports.
The owners of NordVPN, Hide My Ass !, Hola VPN, OpenVPN, VyprVPN, ExpressVPN, TorGuard, IPVanish, VPN Unlimited and Kaspersky Secure Connection received letters from Roskomnadzor demanding to connect to the registry of blocked resources. Now, according to Russian law, these services have 30 days to comply with the order of the authorities and begin to restrict access to prohibited sites. Otherwise, VPN providers themselves will be included in the Roskomnadzor register.
Of all ten services, only the management of Kaspersky Secure Connection has so far announced its intention to fulfill the requirement of the supervisory authority. Representatives of TorGuard, NordVPN and VyprVPN refused to cooperate with the Russian authorities, and all the others did not react to the letters received.
