Not installed Windows 7: reasons and solutions

windows 7 is not installed I have heard and seen all kinds of errors when installing the OS Windows (and I started doing this since Windows 98). I want to say right away that most often, program errors are to blame, I personally would give them 90 percent …

In this article, I would like to dwell on several such software cases, due to which it is not installed Windows 7.

So…

Case number 1

This incident happened to me myself. In 2010, I decided that was enough, it was time to change Windows XP to Windows 7. I myself was an opponent of both Vista and 7 at first, but I still had to switch because of problems with the drivers (manufacturers of new equipment simply stopped releasing drivers for older OS) …

Because At that time I didn't have a CD-Rom (by the way, I don't even remember why), the choice of where to install from, naturally fell on a USB flash drive. By the way, the computer then worked for me under control Windows XP.

I bought a general disk with Windows 7, made an image from a friend, wrote it down to a USB flash drive … Then I decided to proceed with the installation, restart my computer, set up BIOS. And then I run into a problem – the flash drive is not visible, it is just loading Windows XP from the hard disk. As soon as I did not change the BIOS settings, reset them, change the priorities of downloads, etc. – everything is in vain …

Do you know what the problem was? The fact that the flash drive was incorrectly recorded. Now I no longer remember what utility I wrote down that USB flash drive (for sure it was all about it), but the UltraISO program helped me to correct this misunderstanding (about how to write a USB flash drive in it – see this article). After rewriting the flash drive, the installation Windows 7 went like clockwork …

Case number 2

I have one friend who knows a lot about computers. Somehow he asked to come in and suggest at least something why the OS might not be installed: there was an error, or rather the computer just hung up, and every time at a different time. Those. this could happen at the beginning of the installation, or it could take 5-10 minutes. later …

I went in, checked the Bios first – it seems to be correctly configured. Then I began to check the USB flash drive with the system – there were no complaints about it either, even for the experiment they tried to install the system on a neighboring PC – everything got up without problems.

The decision came spontaneously – try to insert the flash drive into another USB port. In general, from the front panel of the system unit, I rearrange the USB flash drive to the back – and what do you think? The system was installed in 20 minutes.

Then, for the experiment, I inserted a USB flash drive into the USB on the front panel and began to copy a large file to it – after a couple of minutes an error occurred. The problem was in USB – I don't know exactly what it was (maybe something in hardware). The main thing is that the system was installed and I was released. ?

Case number 3

When installing the OS Windows 7 on my sister's computer, a strange situation occurred: the computer immediately hung up. Why? Unclear…

The most interesting thing is that in normal mode (the OS was already installed on it) everything worked fine and no problems were observed. I tried different OS distributions – it didn't help.

It was in the BIOS settings, or rather in the floppy drive Floppy Drive. I agree that most do not have it, but in BIOS that setting can be and it, the most interesting thing, is turned on!

After disabling Floppy Drive, the freezes stopped and the system was successfully installed …

(If you are interested, in this article in more detail about all the BIOS settings. The only thing, it is a little old already …)

Other common reasons for not installing Windows 7:

1) Incorrect recording of a CD / DVD disc or flash drive. Be sure to double-check! (Burn boot disk)

2) If you are installing the system from a flash drive, be sure to use USB 2.0 ports (Installation Windows 7 will not work with USB 3.0). By the way, in this case, most likely, you will see an error that the required floppy driver was not found (screenshot below). If you see such an error, just move the USB flash drive to the USB 2.0 port (USB 3.0 – marked in blue) and start the OS installation again Windows.

During installation Windows 7 - no drivers error

3) Check the BIOS settings. After disabling Floppy Drive, I recommend changing the operating mode of the SATA controller hard drive from AHCI to IDE, or vice versa. Sometimes, this is exactly the stumbling block …

4) Before installing the OS, I recommend disconnecting printers, TVs, etc. from the system unit – leave only the monitor, mouse and keyboard. This is necessary in order to reduce the risk of all kinds of errors and incorrectly defined equipment. For example, if you have an additional monitor or TV connected to HDMI – when installing the OS, it may incorrectly install (sorry for the tautology) the default monitor and the picture from the screen will disappear!

5) If the system still does not install, perhaps you have not a software problem, but a hardware problem? It is not possible to consider everything within the framework of one article, I recommend contacting a service center or good friends who understand computers.

All the best…
