The company Facebook could have been prompted to this decision by the departure of one of the key developers.
The other day, co-founder of Oculus VR, which belongs to Facebook, Brendan Irib announced his departure from the company. According to rumors, this is due to the restructuring that Facebook started in its subsidiary studio, and with the fact that the views of management Facebook and Brendan Irib on the further development of virtual reality technology are fundamentally different.
Facebook plans to focus on products designed for weaker machines (including mobile devices) than the powerful gaming PCs that the Oculus Rift requires, which of course will make VR more accessible, but at the same time the same being of less quality.
However, representatives Facebook said the company intends to develop VR technology without discarding PCs. Information about the development of the Oculus Rift 2, which was led by Irib, neither confirmed nor denied.
