Lucasfilm closes development of Star Wars fan game

Poem Studios' enthusiastic development team received their expected 'letter of misery' from copyright holders last week.

Fans have been working on porting Knights of the Old Republic, an RPG that came out in 2003 and became one of the best games in the Star Wars series, to the Unreal Engine 4 engine. The development of the project, called Apeiron, began back in 2015.

And although Lucasfilm, in its own words, appreciates the love of fans of the Star Wars universe, the company was forced to demand that development cease and “destroy all project code and all related materials.”
