In the half-year from April to September, Square Enix lost more than 3.7 billion yen (2.2 billion rubles) due to the incorrectly chosen policy towards the subsidiary studio Luminous Productions, which was developing Final Fantasy XV. In other words, the release of content for the game brought the company not profit, but losses.

As such, Square Enix is ​​closing work on most further additions to FFXV and reorienting Luminous Productions to create a new franchise. The head of the studio, Hajime Tabata, resigned from his post on October 31.

Final Fantasy XV took ten years in development and was released in 2016 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. After a year and a half, this JRPG was ported to the PC.
