The Japanese company Capcom has decided to close its Canadian division.
At the beginning of the year, 50 Capcom Vancouver employees were laid off. Now the studio is almost completely disbanded – 158 people have been dismissed.
Only a number of key employees will temporarily remain in the division, who will have to settle all the formalities before the final closure of the studio in January 2019.
Capcom Vancouver was founded under the name Blue Castle Games in 2005. After the release of Dead Rising 2 in 2010, the studio was acquired by Capcom, and under the leadership of the Japanese company, two more numbered parts of the series were released. The last game of the Canadians was Puzzle Fighter, which was released last year on Android and iOS.
