Can an IP camera work over Wi-Fi

Good afternoon!

Yesterday I bought a Vimtag Snowman Wireless PTZ Cloud IP Camera CP1 IP camera. Today I started to install it, I did, like, everything according to the instructions, where it is written that first you should connect the camera either to USB or to an electrical outlet. I connected it to USB, then to Wi-Fi. Everything is fine, the camera is working, I went a couple of kilometers, I checked it, everything can be seen well. But if you disconnect the camera from USB, its work stops, the inscription 'Device is missing' appears. What is the reason, tell me. Or is it a factory defect, or I have a problem with my hands. Because to keep the camera only on the computer desk and not be able to put it in the other end of the room, but why such a camera is needed.
